This quote from the article begs the question: How did the Chinese workers realize that they have rights and there are laws protecting them? I believe that the answer is that they have learned from “the grapevine.” That is, the Chinese media, including the internet.
Watch for this trend to continue. There are several theoretical frameworks that have been predicting this “second awakening” of Chinese workers for some time.
