Today was May Day 2010, and there were multiple Immigrant Rights marches scheduled in New York City.
Me and Eleanor met up with Jonathan Tasini and his people at Foley Square, and the march got started after a rousing rally. Saw about a dozen of my fellow students from The Murphy Institute there and was pleased to be able to introduce them to Eleanor. After Foley Square, we hopped the subway and went to a second, independently organized march in Union Square.
It was wonderful to see so many people come out on this beautiful day to demonstrate their support FOR immigrants at the same time they demonstrated their opposition AGAINST the new Arizona immigration laws.
